The hobby of flying radio controlled airplanes whether it be electric or gas is a bunch of fun. You’ll be amazed at what kinds of tricks that people can do with these planes. If you really want to learn more about the hobby of radio controlled airplanes just visit your local hobby shop and they’ll be happy to tell you where the airports are located in your area I promise you’ll enjoy your afternoon watching these planes hovering inches off the ground, doing loops, dog fights, racing, and much more. I highly recommend you visit one of the clubs before you make any airplane purchase. Everyone is friendly and they will probably be able to direct you where to make your first purchase. Sometimes you can find used planes at these fields real cheap to get started.
The hobby stores usually recommends you buy your kids or yourself the electric planes to get started and then move up to the gas operated. They tell you that you can fly these electric planes at your local public park but I was always afraid my son or I would hit someone walking or a car passing by. I sure didn’t want to get sued. You have to be very careful with these electric planes at these parks because of the wind. Most of the cheaper electric planes are not very heavy and operate only on batteries. You can find these electric planes for about $75 to $150 and that comes with everything (remote control radio and plane).
I personally love the gas radio controlled airplanes because of the flying clubs you can get involved with and the friendship. Everyone is willing to help each other if something goes wrong with their planes plus the learning experiences of watching others fly.
The people at these flying clubs will love for you to come out and watch them fly their gas planes. I promise this is one of the funnest hobbies you’ll ever enjoy. The time goes by so fast when you’re out at the fields. My son, Mitchell (now 14 years old) and I have been flying for the past 3 years and it’s been great. I would love to see more kids get involved in this hobby. This has been the best time I ever spent with my son.
My son thinks the blog is great so we can start posting pictures of our planes and the crashes. I guess he’ll be posting videos of the crashes from our flying field.
